Free Online Lab Timer Board

Lab Timer guide & FAQ

Run multiple labeled laboratory timers

This free online lab timer board keeps several independent countdowns visible in one browser tab. Label timers by sample, instrument, incubation, centrifuge run, wash step, or protocol stage; start them together or separately; and save frequently used durations as presets.

Timers continue to use the device clock while the page remains open, and completed timers provide visual and audio alerts. Custom presets and active timer details are stored in the browser so routine durations are available on the same device.

Using timers at the bench

Use names that connect each countdown to a physical sample or protocol step, such as “Plate 2 antibody incubation” rather than “Timer 3.” Keep the device audible and visible, prevent it from sleeping during critical work, and use the instrument's validated timer or a dedicated backup for safety-critical processes.

Online lab timer FAQ

Can I run several countdown timers at once?

Yes. Every timer has independent start, pause, reset, rename, and remove controls.

Can I save a timer duration as a preset?

Yes. Save any timer as a custom preset and reuse it from the preset row on the same browser.

Will a timer work if I close the browser tab?

No. Keep the page open. Browser and operating-system sleep or audio policies can also affect alerts, so do not rely on it as the only timing system for critical processes.
